Summary: Under the direction of the Area Superintendent and Executive Director, the Reading Coordinator will support schools and programs in the Northwest area of the district. Responsibilities: Provide collaborative leadership in the following areas: Represents the reading horizontal team on the vertical network team for the northwest learning network Plans and implements district-level tasks and initiatives related to reading Supports schools in their network in achieving goals determined by the network team in collaboration with the school Supports implementation of district-level tasks and initiatives prioritized by other horizontal teams Facilitates professional learning at district, network, and school level Responds to school requests at the direction of the area executive director or area superintendent Other duties as assigned Qualifications: Required: Currently hold a Colorado teaching license or have licensure application in process with appropriate endorsement in: Elementary Education and/or English Language Arts (must upload license or in process documentation to application) Endorsement in Reading within 24-36 months At least three years of experience teaching elementary or reading or serving as a reading interventionist and/or at least three years of educational leadership experience, e.g., school based, central office, educational BOCES, etc. Completed and submitted BVSD online application Preferred: Certified Academic Language Therapist certification and/or Center for Effective Reading Instruction certification Appropriate training, academic, technological, and experiential background for the position Knowledge of teacher and principal educator effectiveness professional standards Understanding and appreciation for diversity and equitable instructional practices Knowledgeable and articulate about strategies utilizing cultural responsive and cultural proficiency approaches. Knowledge of reading instruction for English language learners and students in bilingual programs Effective interpersonal skills Dedication to high standards of excellence and the success of all students and ability to differentiate instruction for students Effective use of assessments to guide instruction Ability to work collaboratively with central office staff, school administrators, teachers, students, parents and community members Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines Skilled in group facilitation, coordination, and leadership Ability to study, analyze, and synthesize data in order to discriminate student achievement areas of strengths and weaknesses as well as program effectiveness Salary information: Salary Placement varies according to experience and education.
