The Manager, Asset Based Lending (ABL) all ABL loans; coordinates the lending activities of a team of ABL loan officers. Makes and services a variety of large and often complex loans to customers within BOK footprint. This includes making and servicing a wide variety of business loans, secured in nature, the majority of which involve high leverage and high risk customers. Responsible for retention, amendment, renewal strategies, and determining acceptable risk management strategies and being forefront in the exit/workout strategy of certain accounts. Markets both credit and non-credit products.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Directs and supervises work of area personnel; determines work priorities and schedules work assignments; interviews and recommends candidates; evaluates, orients, counsels and trains subordinate personnel and recommends associated personnel actions; supervises and develops staff of ABL Lenders to ensure effective maintenance and development of existing account relationships and solicitation of new business.
  2. Defines annual department objectives; develops operating plan, including budgets and manpower requirements, in compliance with senior management decisions. Develops department programs to comply with organization requirements.
  3. Analyzes effectiveness of programs and recommends changes in policies and procedures to meet goals and objectives. Drafts proposals for new policies and procedures.
  4. Monitors quality of portfolio to minimize loan losses. This would include overseeing the proper on-boarding of clients, continual monitoring of collateral and cash, insuring proper legal documentation and the overall monitoring of account quality.
  5. Calls on equity groups, other banks and non-bank ABL lenders to develop new relationships with prospective clients, and retains existing business; promotes the bank's services and introduces customers to other departments when a service can be rendered.
  6. Assists team members with complex account relationships, and guides less-experienced member of the team in matters relating to credit quality, appropriate monitoring, credit policy and complex loan structure; approves credit beyond the lending limits of team members; serves as a resource to team loan officers in the areas of marketing, new business development, and loan analysis and servicing.
  7. Negotiates loan proposals; analyzes and evaluates credit requests which includes reviewing and the detailed analysis of collateral quality, current financial statements, credit analysis, delinquency reporting, ensuring exceptions are documented, reviews reports necessary to monitor asset and credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation, and writes loan commitments; recommends appropriate credit grade; makes oral presentation to loan committee; implements approval or declination action.
  8. Participates in community and professional activities in order to enhance Bank s image and expand personal network of business contacts for development of new business.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of Asset Based Lending including (but not limited to) collateral valuation and analysis (dilution, turn, collectability, etc.), red flag identification, financial analysis, projection analysis and sensitization, etc.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of credit underwriting and complex accounting issues.
  • Advanced knowledge of loan documentation (including legal aspects of loan transactions), policy and regulations
  • Specialized advanced knowledge of commercial banking products and market factors in order to serve customers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations; ability to communicate with senior level management, regulators, and executive officers
  • Leadership ability and team building skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to sell within the financial services industry with advanced negotiating skills

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Finance and 10+ years Asset Based Lending experience or equivalent work experience including Field Audit. Strong understanding of the legal environment underpinning ABL, including but not limited to knowledge of contract law, the Uniform Commercial Code and Federal Bankruptcy Laws. Strong financial statement analytical and accounting skills are required as well as experience in understanding fine points in lending against various types of collateral. Thorough understanding and knowledge of large syndicated transactions both as an Agent and as a participant.
