Job DescriptionAs a Community Business Coordinator (CBC), you are responsible for administrative support of our business development program and logistics of our in-store events. You work with the management team to ensure optimal merchandising and staffing of events and sharing knowledge of the programs to help generate sales and visibility. You represent Barnes & Noble and serve as a valuable resource to help our store manager (SM) and community business development manager (CBDM) drive sales.Essential FunctionsProvide logistical support for institutional and corporate salesOrganize, promote and execute in-store events, including but not limited to: author promotions, local and national events, Holiday programs and Educator Appreciation eventsCoordinate Bookfairs, following up on tasks with contacts to ensure customer satisfactionOversee event logistics, including but not limited to, ordering signs and flyers, creating calendar of events, updating BN.com store locator information, and managing media outreach/relations/requests and local store social media postsOversee Educator Discount Card promotion and accurately enter data and assist CBDM with local school promotionsShare sales-driving objectives for events with store team, ensuring all special offers are effectively communicated to customers during eventsStage and ensure accurate delivery of institutional and corporate ordersMonitor stock level on all event-related books and products to ensure optimal merchandising and sales opportunities during eventsMake recommendations to SM and CBDM on ways to improve eventsMaintain a contact database of key local media and online event marketing sites (Bloggers, local magazines, etc.)Maintain a calm demeanor and manage issues professionally and according to store operating and company standards, setting a positive example for booksellersAssist in other areas of the store as assigned by the SMQualificationsStrong organization and written/verbal communication skillsSpend time on the selling floor and receiving area, which requires physical activity (i.e., prolonged standing, repetitive bending, lifting, climbing)Availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays to align with store needsExperience in one or more of the following fields: retail sales, education, event planning, marketing, or public relationsEEO StatementBarnes & Noble is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer and is committed to providing employment opportunities to minorities, females, veterans, and disabled individuals, as well as all other protected groups.
