SUMMARY:. The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for planning and managing supply chain activities (3 company warehouses and all (9) forward warehouse programs) by purchasing supplies and coordinating inbound, intermediate and outbound freight from suppliers or terminals direct to customers and into PTK warehouses using dedicated, contracted and in-house carriers. Develop and maintain strategic freight management activities involving Rail (CSX, UP, PAL, CFNR, BNSF) and Truck (LTL, Parcel, Shuttles, Etc.). Develop strategic plans to insure PTK has the appropriate resources to service CPG business models. To create, execute and support purchasing & logistical resources that respond to current or expanding markets / exceeding PTK customer demands.. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:. v Act as the central point of contact between Supply Chain (Purchasing & Logistics) and the business for all communications related to logistics. This includes driving and leading communication of standard processes, best practices, progress reporting, issue resolution, and review coordination between/among business units and logistics.. v Plan, direct, and coordinate purchasing, warehousing and distribution operations within the Company. Effectively utilize. these in-house teams to perform the necessary functions for all inbound, intermediate and outbound activities. Possess strong knowledge on how to maneuver within all transportation portals. \"extensive rolodex in negotiations and work-a-rounds\". v Lead partnering relationships with all vendors / suppliers. Utilize PTK's business tenure and volume / consumption #'s to drive inbound costs to a record low. Support regulatory compliance as it relates to the approved supplier program. v Ensure a smooth and consistent operation of supplies and finished goods are distributed to proper departments/customers in an effective and efficient manner by rail or truck. Must have negotiated and managed freight contracts / agreements with Rail / Truck carriers. Review mix of truck providers in major lanes semi-annually to ensure optimal solutions.. v Evaluate current internal warehouses for WMS applications. Launch and Manage WMS activities within 1st year. Accountable for all aspects of. inventory control, including all cycle counts on all inventoried items (raw materials to finished goods) on monthly and yearly basis. Effectively manage all JIT/WIP locations to control cost and drive efficiency to the production floor.. v Analyze all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies to meet current and future needs for any mode of transportation. Ex's: Must be proficient in understanding fuel sur-charges, how carriers apply, how. to measure and how to negotiate, maximize the use of high-cube rail cars into KY.. v Make sense of a considerable volume of data from many locations and carriers then provide direction on third party and into stock loads. Convert data into financial measurables to control costs and drive good business decisions. Dollarization of movements.. v Analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or carriers. Create KPI's within Supply Chain & Logistics activities. Drive investigations using financial data.. v Plans, develops, and implements warehouse safety and security programs and activities. Collaborates with other departments to integrate purchasing & logistics with business systems, regulatory or customer compliance and standard operating processes.. v Be proactive \"thinking-forward\" on new business opportunities (International / Domestic) to ensure efficient returns. At least an intermediate level of knowledge within international purchasing / logistical relations.. v Encompass purchasing, inbound, intermediate and outbound into a powerhouse of efficient resources servicing all PTK. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.. v B.S. or B.A. in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations Management; Seven or more years' experience in Warehousing, Receiving, Inventory Control, or Materials Management in a manufacturing environment with ten years Supervisory experience; or equivalent. v Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Warehouse Management System (WMS), and Logistics execution utilizing business tools.. v International experience (intermodal, vessel, etc.) is strongly preferred.. v Experience with FSMA / CPG Manufacturing. v Knowledge of inventory management principles related to FIFO. Ability to balance WIP (Work in Progress) and JIT (Just in Time) warehouse locations. v Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.. v Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. High level problem solving (tactical). v Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.. v Ability to organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others. Be a Coach, Mentor, etc.. v Ability to develop personnel and equipment structures to support present and future operations.. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:. v APICS Certified Master Production Scheduler is preferred. Highly skilled in DOT rules and regulations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:.
