Job Level: Advanced Professional. FLSA Status: Exempt. SUMMARY As Chief of Staff (COS), you will act as the 'right hand' for the Executive Director & CEO. You will partner with the CEO, executives and their management teams to streamline activities, communication and increase organizational collaboration and culture based on the priorities of the CEO. You will partner with leadership to lead strategic organization-wide initiatives, meetings and development for the Board of Directors (BOD), staff and key external stakeholders.. The COS will also focus on key day-to-day management of projects to allow the CEO to focus on growing our business. COS is charged with building on USA for UNHCR's track record of success by working alongside the CEO, and the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and the Board of Directors in realizing the organization's vision and achieving its goals for continued financial stability as well as enhancing the impact of its mission. The COS will bring excellent communication skills, a focus on effective problem-solving, and the ability to build partnerships across functions.. CEO Relationship. Act as an adviser to the CEO,. Assist the CEO in facilitating effective decision-making and be the sounding board for new ideas and initiatives. Partner with the CEO to create strategies in support of USA for UNHCR's mission and be a thought partner on the work. Partner with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to move the CEO and organizational priorities forward and makes sure decisions are communicated, critical organizational questions addressed and the team can effectively progress on their plans. Conducts research and compiles advanced briefing materials as needed to support CEO in meetings and appointments. Plan, design and evaluate critical meetings, retreats, off-sites for the BOD, staff and external partners as identified by CEO ensuring that key objectives are met. Performs other duties that may be requested by the CEO.. ELT Relationship. Collaborate with the organization's ELT to ensure that all are informed of critical developments in a timely manner. Champion the organizational strategic priorities and vision while providing strategic planning for the organization. Organizational/ Cross-Functional Relationship. Serve as a liaison and facilitator between the CEO's office, ELT and cross-functional team to ensure collaboration across all levels to develop and execute the strategic directions and where appropriate implement new processes and approaches to achieve it. Effectively communicate major organization-wide themes, wants, needs, concerns, ideas from employees to move to decision, resolution, action planning and communication as quickly as possible. Master's degree in Business Administration, Organizational Psychology or similar field 8+ years in a leadership management role - ideally across multiple industries. Must have experience in not-for-profit environment. (International experience preferred) Proven success in a project management role. Proven business judgement and analytical skills. Able to identify areas of business performance that can be improved. Experience organizing and partnering with multiple teams and departments in a fast- paced, deadline driven structure. Strong written and verbal communicator across all levels (BOD, external key business partners, ELT, directors and staff). Systems thinking approach to project management that identifies ways to increase impact through collaboration and teams. Focuses on building a best in class organization, culture and employee experience. Proactive approach to solving problems and consistently bring best in class options for consideration on business priorities. Decisive and independent thinker who can manage and deliver on key business priorities. Excellent people management and development skills.
