What You Will Do

As a Nursing Manager (RN) with St. Vincent Health-IN, you will have the opportunity to manage activities, workflow and nursing resources of assigned nursing unit(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within assigned units.

    • Includes ensuring compliance with care of stroke patients while on the unit to maintain Comprehensive Stroke certification.

    • Performing/facilitating completion of monthly audits as assigned by surgical services quality team to ensure compliance of documentation, time outs, and complete chart documents per TJC requirements and EOC rounds.

  • Conducts hiring, training, directing, developing and evaluating of direct reports

    • Work with CPD to provide oversight for new hire orientation

    • Annual review of PACU call coverage guidelines

    • Provide guidance and oversight for self scheduling committee

      • Provide oversight of call coverage for holidays and weekends

      • Evaluate needed STO coverage

    • Work with Director and Clinical Supervisors to provide weekend/holiday leadership coverage for unit.

    • Ensure assigned units work together to provide optimal staffing coverage at the end of day that is equitable for all

    • Annual GPS review of direct reports

    • Ongoing work to provide application of disciplinary policy as applicable for direct reports with the guidance of director and HRP.

  • Maintain Associate engagement and Patient Satisfaction scores as provided through Studer principles

    • Perform and document monthly associate rounds

    • Ensure completion and documentation of quarterly associate AIDET check offs.

    • Ensure completion and documentation of patient rounds (100 rounds monthly in Ortho pre-op/PACU) in the myrounding app.

    • Ensure completion and documentation of patient follow-up calls through the PCM system.

    • Send 3 thank you cards monthly. Utilize and promote the Ascension Recognition program with associates.

    • Review and distribute associate/patient satisfaction results through a variety of mechanisms: daily huddles, unit meetings or newsletters.

      • PRC monthly key drivers report and patient voices

      • myVoice Survey Results -monthly in Perceptyx system

        • Develop action plans as needed to address suggestions and concerns gleaned from the Perceptyx system, Patient Safety Survey

        • Encourage associate participation in surveys

    • Facilitate unit celebrations, encourage peer committees and pitch-ins

    • Identifies and resolves issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for assigned units.

      • Orient to triage desk and be able to perform assigned duties as needed.

      • Orient and be able to jump in to perform rescue staffing as needed.

      • Collaborate with sister units and ancillary departments to provide optimal care to all patients

      • Provide in the moment service recovery with patients/family

      • Attend Bed Huddle daily, collaborate with inpatient nursing unit leadership on bed placement

      • Advocate for unit on going while supporting and facilitating patient through put housewide.

    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services within assigned units.

      • Ensure appropriate follow-up with ERS and Feedback tickets on going

      • Provide closed loop communication with those involved and as applicable for patient safety events

      • Promote use of ERS system with direct reports

      • May participate in RCA s as assigned

      • Identify near misses, working with risk and quality as needed.

    • Monitors and adheres to budget.
