Duties Assist customers with completion of applications; advise them of their rights and responsibilities; send appropriate notices to customers for action taken on cases.
Coordinate and direct clients to get necessary information. This requires follow-up with clients and re-evaluation of their eligibility status.
Process changes reported on cases through phone, mail and personal contact.
Make all changes to customer's cases within mandated deadlines including process all applications, initial and re-determinations, within mandated time frames.
Make referrals to customers needing other services such as mental health, housing and/or domestic violence. Review and act on available information received from various caseload management reports. Develop and maintain good communications with outside agencies. Establish claims for over payments. Clear and respond to voice mail and Remedy tickets according to the priority assigned by Call Center. Refer cases with questionable household circumstances to Investigations Unit. Share information with other units, county, and State agencies as appropriate. Represent the agency at State and County appeals hearings; prepare written response and exhibit packets. Attend training to maintain/enhance knowledge and professionalism.

Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, customers and management. Requirements EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or GED EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years of office clerical experience which included providing customer services.
Human services experience
FA (Food Assistance) processing experience within the past 12 months
Experience working at the Arapahoe County Department of Human Services
Experience with Colorado Benefits Management System (CBMS) Supplemental Information
Must pass a criminal pre-employment background check and post-employment fingerprint check.
Work shifts are normally 8 hours; overtime may be required. Work hours may be scheduled between 7am and 7pm based on business needs.
All Program Specialists must attend and successfully pass initial training.
The salary grade listed is the full salary range for the Program Specialist I position. If you have determining eligibility experience, please ensure that is reflected on your application. The following salary grade reflects one year (or more) of determining eligibility experience: $18.74 - $24.47 per hour. Please note that the hiring salary will typically be near the lower end of the pay range listed.
