Senior Program Director

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Senior Program Director - West provides leadership and direction for the development, coordination and implementation of the Associations strategic and operational program plans in West Michigan. Working in conjunction with functional Chapter leads and other members of the West leadership team, this position ensures the agendas for care and support, advocacy work, and development are successfully implemented through the development of community relationships. This position reports to the Vice President of Programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Actively participate with the Senior Management Team to ensure effective integration of the Strategic Plan into Regional Work Plan for West Michigan with a particular emphasis on care and support programs including volunteer recruitment and support.
  • Work with the Vice President of Programs to create and implement a care and support plan for West Michigan. Take leadership in the successful implementation of the plan.
  • Provides oversight and implementation of care and support services; assistance with public policy objectives; and assisting in meeting development objectives.
  • Directs the supervision, development and oversight of regional office staff and volunteers as assigned.
  • Work with the Vice President of Programs to create and implement a care and support program plan for West Michigan including identification of community needs and the recruitment and cultivation of volunteers.
  • Work with the Public Policy Director to maximize efforts towards successful public policy outreach in West Michigan including volunteer recruitment and support.
  • Work with the Fund Development Director to identify potential grant sources, prepare necessary materials and provide ongoing oversight, reporting and coordination with other projects as assigned.
  • Represent the Association at public events, conferences, workshops and media events.
  • Develop a working knowledge of Alzheimers disease and related issues; community resources and the local health care delivery system.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local health care providers, social service providers, area businesses, area civic organizations, and other community organizations or collaborators.
  • Serve as a local voice for the Association in media relations and work with the Director of Communications to successfully implement a communications strategy for the region.
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, coaching and supervision of Regional Office program staff and volunteers as assigned.
  • Maintain a safe, organized and orderly office environment (and surrounding areas where applicable).
  • Inform senior team of emerging opportunities and issues with potential funders and programs.
  • Assure compliance with all Association policies, procedures, standards and applicable regulatory requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelors degree in a related field required.
  • 3 years of experience in community engagement and relationship building required.
  • Experience in providing care and support to persons living with and through challenging situations.
  • Good knowledge of West Michigan communities.
  • Experience supervising professional staff and volunteers preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, public speaking, and electronic communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contacts to build and maintain effective teams.
  • Commitment to a professional code of ethics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative.
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport materials up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and electronically to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to operate designated equipment.
  • Ability to coach and develop staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to analyze information and make timely, appropriate decisions.
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, organize and analyze growth opportunities.
  • Normal to fast paced office environment.
  • High volume of public contact.
  • High degree of travel may be required.
  • Work may be stressful at times.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
