KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of People & Culture for the US and Ireland, plays a key role in delivering on Alexions mission to transform the lives of people affected by rare and devastating diseases by developing and delivering valued innovative therapies, through ensuring Alexion is achieving its ambition of becoming the most rewarding company to work for. The Head of US / Ireland People & Culture will be focused on leading the People & Culture leads and partners in ensuring that we are focusing on the employee experience at Alexion and those moments that matter for our employees.

The Head of the US / Ireland People & Culture will play a critical role in ensuring the organization is building these organizational capabilities by:

  • Leading the team of People & Culture leads and partners in the US and Ireland.
  • Alignging and ensuring the Culture work of Alexion is achieving our cultural ambitions
  • Providing guidance and advice to business teams, managers and leaders on all people management matters, for the client group(s) it partners with.
  • Delivering the global HR agenda, initiatives and objectives year on year in support of Alexions ambitions.
  • Partnering effectively with leaders, managers and employees across the business and providing leadership and coaching to drive the successful implementation of Alexions people and culture strategy in a consistent manner.
  • Building relationships and collaborating with various parts of the Human Experience function as well as functions outside of the Human Experience group to deploy strategies to impact Alexion becoming the most rewarding company to work for
  • Proactively perform diagnostic interventions and problem resolution strategies to contribute the Human/Employee Experience point of view to business issues.
  • Specifics:

  • This role will have ~8 People & Culture employees reporting up through this position. The resources are In Boston, New Haven and Ireland.
  • Collaboration and alignment with the Head of Employee Experiencee International Is a key responsibility for this role.
  • Working with the culture lead and designing and implementing the culture work is a critical element of this role.
  • This role will work with the HR Executive Partners and Experience Liaisons on a regular basis.
  • This role will have a small client group, along with the leadership responsibilities of the US and Ireland P&C Community.
  • PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS

    The Head of US / Ireland People & Culture will need to be a creative leader with a proven track record of revamping or creating effective talent initiatives from scratch. He/She must be pragmatic and business-oriented with experience leading multiple projects across various organizations and situations. He/She will have/be:

  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in a generalist HR support role, including strong knowledge of relevant labor legislation, recruitment, performance management, disciplinary action and dismissal.
  • Strong people management / leadership skills to provide vision, strategy and guidance to his/her team.
  • Experience working in an international, multinational, multicultural and highly matrixed environment.
  • Experience with autonomous HR delivery and project management is required.
  • Can comfortably handle multiple and changing priorities.
  • High sense of ethics, integrity, confidentiality and accountability.
  • High learning agility with natural ability to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a track record of effectiveness as a team leader, player and project team member who delivers results.
  • Prepared to work in a challenging and busy environment.
