WHY IS THIS POSITION IMPORTANT?

We have an exciting opportunity for anexperienced QA Automation Engineer I within our eScreenBusiness Unit located in Richmond, VA.The eScreen Quality Assurance Automation Engineer I is a QA professionalwho contributes his/her expertise and practice of quality assurance along withmanual and automated testing to high performing Agile teams.The QA Automation Engineer I helps build andevolve an automation framework, along with helping others develop automationskills and knowledge. This role typically will have at least three (3) years oftesting experience utilizing recognized testing methodologies and practices,and two (2) years of experience providing automated testing solutions beyondrecord and playback.

This role is an individual contributor to bothquality control (testing) and quality assurance (process and prevention).A QA Automation Engineer I is also expectedto understand and exhibit the importance of adhering to regulations (i.e. SOX,FDA, HIPAA, PCI, etc.) and is responsible for contributing to regulatorycompliance.

As an important member of an Agile environment,the QA Automation Engineer I is expected to cultivate, grow, and maintain coreprincipals including, but not limited to, continuous improvement,self-organization, adaptive planning, and value driven development, usingmethodologies and frameworks such as LEAN, SCRUM, and KANBAN.Additionally, you will possess agrowth-mindset, be team-oriented, have strong interpersonal skills, and possessthe ability to deal with ambiguity; applicants must also demonstrate anaptitude for team communication and collaboration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work across teams (development, QA, product owners, DBAs, etc.) to enhance quality processes by identifying and helping to implement initiatives that will improve capability and efficiency
  • Support frameworks for our test infrastructure and provide automation expertise to our development and testing teams
  • Contribute toward predictable delivery of quality releases
  • Assist team members on automation and quality assurance practices and methodologies
  • Proactively bring issues and problems to the attention of the team; generating, proposing and implementing innovative solutions
  • Create/Execute manual test cases and/or automated test scripts and resolve script errors
  • Work closely with Testers, Developers, Product Managers, and Designers to create useful and effective automated tests
  • Create and maintain automated test scripts for end-to-end, functional, regression, and API tests
  • Collaborate with others to integrate scripts into the build and deploy process within multiple environments.
  • Educate/train others on best practices in testing and maintainability
  • Work closely with development teams to drive root cause analysis and feed that knowledge into automated quality processes effectively
  • Support great talent in the quality analyst and quality engineering spaces
  • Resolve and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion
  • Use judgment within defined policies and practices
  • Review and evaluate deliverables to ensure they conform to quality standards.
  • Provide quality assurance and automation expertise in all project efforts from initiation through implementation
  • Exhibit excellent problem solving, thinking, and troubleshooting skills
  • Work independently with light to limited reliance on a more senior team member.
  • Assist in building a culture of learning and continuous improvement for the QA team and IT department
  • Exhibit an understanding of automation principles
  • Assist the continued improvement of the test automation suite through direct contribution and collaboration
  • Peer review automated and manual test cases
  • Apply test methodology, as well as business process and application knowledge, in the design of tests and testing strategies/approaches
  • Clearly and succinctly speak to, and incorporate, testing methodologies, principles, and techniques
  • Work directly with database administrators, security engineers, user experience professionals, and others to resolve challenges quickly, yet with a quality-first mindset
  • Work with other groups, displaying strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how applications are used by customers, clients, and internal support
  • Clearly articulate the IT infrastructure supporting existing and new applications and services
  • Follow established processes and procedures pertaining to Scrum/Kanban, software development, quality assurance, and regulations. (i.e. SOX, FDA, QMS, HIPAA, PCI, etc.)
  • This position will also be required to work nights and weekends as needed to support development efforts and to perform production release validations

    REQUIREMENTS

    BASICQUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience is required

  • Typically,at least 3+ years of related work experience is required

  • Typically,3+ years of strong hands-on QA experience with webapplications, services and APIs preferably developed using SQL Server, WindowsServer, Visual Studio .NET, ASP.NET, HTML/CSS/JS, jQuery, React, Angular, C#.

  • Typically,2+ years of experience in database testing with the ability to read, write, andexecute complex SQL queries

  • Typically,2+ years of experience with automation testing using tools and frameworks likeNUnit, Katalon, UFT, or Selenium

  • Typically,2+ years of experience testing web services, web APIs, Databases,Authentication, web server configuration

  • Workingknowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applicationsincluding Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Typically,proficiency with web services, web sites, database, network connectivity andauthentication, SQL Server, configuration, and debugging

  • Demonstratedability to complete tasks and cooperate and collaborate in achieving teamobjectives

  • Demonstratedability to develop effective working relationships within a business setting

  • PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS

  • Experiencewith Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar source code and project managementsuite is preferred

  • Excellentcommunication skills, both oral and written, as well as organization anddocumentation skills

  • May assume a testing or technical lead role
  • Will mentor, coach, and train testers across scrum teams
  • Certificationby an industry-recognized testing and quality assurance entity is a requirementfor this position. If a certification has not already been obtained, one mustbe obtained within three (3) years of starting the position.

    Examplesof accepted certifications are: ISTQB:Certified Tester-Foundation Level or equivalent
