Aerotek Scientific is actively recruiting for a Cell Culture Biologist with excellent organizational, problem solving, and communication skills to join a biopharmaceutical company located in Boulder, Colorado. This scientist will be responsible for maintaining and scaling up ( ? 5L) insect cell and E. coli cultures in suspension for recombinant protein expressions. The individual will also be involved in molecular cloning and construct design. A track record of excellent aseptic techniques and experience in molecular biology and protein expression are essential for this role. Responsibilities: Passage suspended insect cell cultures.Generate baculovirus stocks for expressing recombinant proteins in insect cells.Evaluate and optimize protein expression in insect cells and E. coli.Coordinate and prioritize insect cell protein expression queues for the Structural Biology group. Document and maintain records on constructs, strains, and protein expressions.Multi-liter scale of protein expressions in insect cells and E. coli.Perform molecular cloning and DNA preparation for transfection.Requirements: BS or MS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related biological science with minimum 1 year experience in maintaining cell cultures within an industrial or academic research team (cell culture experience from a lab course does not qualify).Experience in E. coli transformation, insect or mammalian cell transfection, and protein expression in these hosts.Experience with WAVE bioreactor or construct design for protein expression is highly desirable.Able to lift 50lb objects with dimensions 12 inches in height and 26 inches in width.Able to perform molecular cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis for DNA and protein analysis, and immunoblotting.Familiar with Microsoft Office; advanced user of Access is a plus.
