JOB SUMMARY Help fulfill ADEC’s mission of providing a life of choice and possibility to individuals served. Help individuals served improve quality of life, increase independence and have meaningful participation in the community by providing specified behavior management techniques to eliminate or manage behavioral concerns. The Behaviorist will assess individuals served with behavioral concerns, study changes in environment that has an impact on behavior and develop behavior support plans to help the individual manage or eliminate behaviors. The Behaviorist also consults with and provides training and support to Direct Support Professionals and guardian/family members to properly develop and implement the behavior support plan. The Behaviorist maintains all required documentation ensuring federal, state and ADEC regulations and guidelines are met. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.     Observe individuals served on caseload for purposes of behavior support plan development. This includes discussing with assigned Direct Support Staff and guardian and/or family members to help determine behavioral needs of individuals served. 2.     Develop individual specific behavior support plans and subsequent revisions as needed to make plan successful. 3.     Work with the Individual Support Team (IST) and the individual served to determine if the behavior support plan can be implemented and if revisions need to be made. 4.     Train and support IST, guardians and/or family members in the implementation of the behavior support plan. All training should be competency based. 5.     Ensure compliance of all specific standards in the 460 IAC 6. 6.     Ensure behavior support techniques that limit the individual’s human or civil rights are approved by IST and ADEC’s Human Rights Committee (HRC). 7.     Ensure behavior support plans are reviewed not less than quarterly and adjusted as necessary. Ensure all changes are communicated to IST and appropriate guardian/family members. 8.     Provide pertinent parties a written report at least quarterly. Pertinent parties include the individual, guardian, DDRS/BDDS Service Coordinator, waiver Case Manager, all service providers and other involved entities. 9.     Ensure that all required documentation is completed and sent to appropriate entities by due date. This includes uploading monthly/quarterly reports on Advocare. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1.     Master’s degree required in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling. 2.     Complete and maintain required state certification. 3.     Ability to communicate in oral and written formats with individuals served, families, guardians and professional associates. 4.     Adherence to all federal, state and agency regulations, policies, and procedures. 5.     No evidence of criminal activity involving a dependent population or any violent criminal activity. 6.     No evidence of illegal drug use or drug abuse. Must pass drug screen. 7.     Valid driver’s license and good driving record. 8.     Completion of all required training on a federal, state, and agency level. 9.     Help maintain ADEC’s CARF accreditation. 10. Ability to use general office equipment, computer, cell phone and other forms of technology to meet the needs of individuals served.
