We are currently looking for a Claims Manager to work out of our Jersey City, New Jersey office. The selected candidate will lead and direct a team of Claims Professionals in medium to high exposure Middle Market Directors and Officers (D&O) and Employment Practices Liability (EPL) claims. The Claims Manager is expected to coordinate the work activities of the team, and has responsibility for performance, development, and coaching of staff. The Claim Manager will also act as a technical resource for the team. This position has clear and distinct accountability for business results and is expected to manage internal and external customer relationships. The Claims Manager plays a critical role in interacting to exchange timely information with upstream claim managers and line of business underwriters as well as developing, maintaining and servicing broker and account relationships.
Juris Doctor and 5 or more years of Claims handling or Insurance Defense experience OR
Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of Claims handling or Insurance Defense experience OR
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of Claims handling or Insurance Defense experience AND
Customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft Office
Experience collaborating across work groups
Knowledge of insurance legal statutes and procedures
Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims and the insurance legal and regulatory environment
Previous leadership, coaching or mentoring experience
Experience handling D&O and/or EPL Claims
AIC, SCLA and/or CPCU designation
Strong communication skills
Ability to multi-task and adapt to a changing environment
Organization and time management skills
Ability to work independently
Ability to effectively present information to LOB manager, claimants and customers
