OverviewJob SummaryEvery day hundreds of children participate in fun and engaging YMCA summer day camp programs. Become a leader the kids follow by joining our team as the Teen Day camp counselor.We are looking for someone with experience working with teens who is excited to work in our Quest Camp with participants in grades 7th - 9th. The Teen Day Camp Counselor serves as a professional role model for our campers by leading through example and guiding campers through recreational activities that teach life skills, encourage healthy and safe behaviors and create a positive camper experience. Lead teens as they explore locally and enjoy trips throughout the greater Seattle area.Camp Season runs June 17th - August 30th with some trainings in June with shifts ranging from 6:45 am - 6:15 pm.Responsibilities Supervises a group of children to ensure their health, safety and to provide a positive experience for each camper. Implements program activities. May be asked to assist in planning activities. Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures. Professionally engages with parents/guardians to provide pertinent program information and share about their camper's experience. Ensures that equipment is clean, safe, set up and stored properly. Attends staff meetings and training programs as required.
