As a licensed optometrist, this individual is responsible for providing low vision services to ophthalmology patients on a referral basis. This individual will also provide low vision training to the residents in the Department so that they will be proficient in understanding and providing low vision services to qualifying patients.



+ Organizes, supervises and provides low vision services to ophthalmology patients on a referral basis.

+ Interacts with ophthalmology residents so that they will be proficient in understanding and providing low vision services to qualifying patients.

+ Performs other appropriate duties as requested by the faculty of the Department.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



Education:



+ Graduate degree in Optometry.



Experience:



+ No experience required.



Licensure:



+ Current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia



Skills:



+ Experience utilizing a personal computer and computerized scheduling.



PHYSICAL DEMANDS



Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
