The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia seeks to hire a full-time professional to serve as an integral member of the CCS student coaching team. As a member of a dynamic team committed to providing exceptional service to students and employers, the Assistant Director must be an innovative, enthusiastic and results-oriented team player. The Assistant Director will assume a wide variety of individual and group advising, counseling, programming, and career placement responsibilities for graduate and undergraduate students. They will have a special focus on identifying and attending to the coaching, resource & programmatic needs of undergraduate students including 3rd & 4th year McIntire students, 2nd year students interested in pursuing studies at McIntire and students participating in McIntire's Business Institute (MBI) certificate & business fundamentals program.?
**Responsibilities will include:**
+ Provide career coaching and job search assistance to undergraduate students. This role includes one-on-one advising on career decision-making and large group workshops. The CCS Coaching Team works very closely together and collaborates on student advising, programs, and employer visits. Advising includes assistance with career exploration and research, resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, online media presence, job search strategies and offer evaluations.
+ Serve as main point of contact for McIntire affiliated clubs and organizations and conduct purposeful programming in close collaboration with these groups.
+ Oversee the delivery of the Careers in Finance series to 2nd year students in collaboration with the University Career Center, McIntire finance faculty and McIntire's corporate relations team.
+ Develop content and devise strategy for orienting students to McIntire through the introductory _Exploring Business Careers_ program.
+ Collaborate with McIntire's Student Services & Admissions teams to ensure that pre-matriculated McIntire students are well-educated about recruiting timelines and industry best practices prior to their enrollment.
+ Support Darden Mentor program through active collaboration with affiliates and the Darden mentor program lead. Provide guidance on assessing program and optimizing mentor relationships. Promote value of these mentoring programs to McIntire students.
+ Create, execute and promote a wide variety of engaging and interactive career workshops, often involving industry partners and alumni. These programs will be designed to assist students with career exploration, industry education, opportunity searching, networking, interviewing, professional preparedness and other areas of topical importance. Continuous assessment of programs will be required to determine student learning outcomes and to facilitate continuous improvements.
+ Conduct benchmarking research with peer institutions and outreach to alumni and other industry leaders to stay ahead of career services and industry trends and ensure students are educated about recruiting processes and timelines and position requirements.
+ Master's Degree required, preference will be given to applicants with a Master's Degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education or related industry experience
+ Minimum of two-years of professional experience in a career services or industry setting involving advising, program development and events coordination.
+ Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to perform with a high degree of professionalism in all work settings and functions including all interactions with students, employers, faculty and alumni.
+ Ability to manage multiple projects (multi-task), solid planning and organizational skills; high degree of quality and attention to detail is critical.
+ Applicants should be both entrepreneurial and customer-service oriented and manifest a genuine passion for helping students develop personally and professionally along with a proven ability to build collaborative and highly productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.
+ Effective planning abilities and mature judgement to set expectations with both students and faculty members.
+ A highly motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and genuine interest in providing exceptional service to students, employers, faculty and alumni will thrive in the Commerce Career Services culture.
+ Proficient computer skills, basic Excel and PowerPoint knowledge is helpful along with familiarity with relevant career service technologies.
+ Availability to work evenings and occasional weekends as necessary (most career-related programs are conducted after 5:00pm).
