The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology has an opening for a Research Fellow which will be a tenure ineligible, one year appointment at the Instructor rank. The Research Fellow will support studies of human and murine small intestinal structure and function during pregnancy, lactation, and early childhood. In mice, they will lead studies of gut mucosal morphology, function, and transcription during pregnancy, lacation, suckling, and weaning. In clinical studies, they will assist with regulatory requirements enrollment, consent, and successful execution of transnasal intestinal endomicroscopy protocols planned in cohorts of children from 6 to 24 months, pregnant women, and lactating women.

The candidate should have a medical degree and have completed residency training in Pediatrics. The Research Fellow will be expected to develop expertise in gastrointestinal physiology and murine models of the gastrointestinal tract. Given the highly collaborative nature of the training environment, the candidate will be expected to develop expertise in project management in both preclinical and clinical collaborations. Publication of research is expected, and candidates should have or will acquire experience drafting, editing, and revising manuscripts. The candidate will develop scientific communication skills with the goal of preparing for a career as an independent investigator.
