A Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the practice of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of medical assistants vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioners' specialty.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides administrative support including, but not limited to, the following:
Other related responsibilities:Represents the clinic in a professional manner in person, in telephone conversations, and in written correspondence Performs basic functions such as photocopying, scanning and faxing Performs as Patient Services Representative, as needed Any other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:High School Diploma or GED required Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NHA or NCCT required Minimum two years of experience in a medical office setting required Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred Knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook is required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Phlebotomy, EKG Vital signs, patient assessment Administration of medications (Oral, IM, Sub-q, Intradermal, IV) Ability to work independently Strong oral and written communication skills are essential Attention to accuracy and detail Demonstrates a clear understanding of the importance of teamwork and staff satisfaction
