Redfin seeks a head of program management to lead the team that designs our service, including how we schedule home showings, prepare a listing for its market debut, or coordinate closing a transaction. Our challenge is to transform real estate into an on-demand service. By pairing technology with more efficient processes, we want to deliver the ultimate customer experience, while reducing the cost of delivering that service every year. This involves digging through data and getting into the field to understand how real estate customs vary across dozens of markets, figuring out where we can standardize our service for scale. Virtually every other real estate brokerage lets each agent handle things her own way, but we're obsessed with figuring out how to deliver consistent, industry-leading service to every single customer. We view a program manager's work as Redfin's foundational intellectual property, to develop the modern way to buy or sell a home. The Director of Program Management will report to the Chief Growth Officer. You'll manage a team of 5 - 10 program managers, setting the standard for what it means to be a world-class organization at program management and process improvement. You'll work closely with other leaders in real estate, analytics, product management and engineering to help Redfin redefine real estate.Skills and Traits* Who are you? You're on fire to re-imagine residential real estate. You're obsessed with efficiency. You know that the final stage of perfecting a process is making it invisible. You're a pragmatist, with a bias for action, and a focus on the results.* You dig deep into how processes are working currently. You listen carefully to customers and co-workers to build hypotheses. You use numbers to validate your intuitions and about what is happening across a large-scale field organization.* You can synthesize your research and blend in your creativity to come up with better ways of doing things. You know how to get buy-in for big changes and have the project management skills to put those changes into practice.* You know that making things easy is hard, and you're willing to put in the work to get it completely right. You think like an engineer, constantly iterating to make improvements. The goals and metrics you choose keep your team focused on the right things. You know how to collect qualitative feedback systematically. You're never quite satisfied with your results. And most importantly, you leave things better than you found them.More to the point:* 8 12+ years of experience defining innovative processes at high-growth companies, especially processes involving distributed field organizations and technology* History of success leading program management teams* Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to visit field offices and see our teams in action* Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in industrial engineering or operations research* A strong analytical foundation and Excel wizardry are required.
