Director of Trade Compliance

As a Director of Trade Compliance working on the Trade Compliance team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by collaboration, dedication, and customer focus. In a typical day, you will:

* Maintain responsibility for leading, developing, implementing and maintaining OCA?s Trade Compliance program to ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. Government and International regulations which Olympus are governed under and Olympus Global Policies.?

* Provides?strategic advice to the company on trade matters, orchestrate global trade compliance program and be the OCA representative with all governmental regulatory agencies.

* Acts as the Regional Security Trade Control Officer responsible for OCA regional activities reporting to Global Trade Compliance Function.

* Interfaces with senior and executive leadership in Legal, Supply Chain, Compliance, and with external stakeholders involved with global trade.

* Ability to have excellent organizational skills, exceptional subject matter expertise, a high degree of adaptability and the ability to anticipate and respond to changing priorities.

* Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Duties:

As a Director of Trade Compliance working on the Trade Compliance team, you will be empowered and inspired to do your best work. You will contribute to our mission by collaboration, dedication, and customer focus. In a typical day, you will:

* Develop, implement and maintain OCA policies.

* Trade Compliance program, policies and teams to ensure compliance to all relevant rules and regulations of governing US Agencies, International regulators, and Olympus Corporate policies.

* Governing agencies include but are not limited to Customs and Border Patrol, US Census Bureau, Bureau of Industry and Security, Department of State, Department of Treasury

* Drive strategic direction of trade compliance processes to ensure robust risk mitigation management consistent with requirements of all countries and regions in which the Company transacts business.

* Lead the OCA trade compliance operations program to facilitate global trade on day to day basis ensuring correct submissions and to regulators including but not limited to Harmonized Tariff Schedule classifications, Sanctioned Country licensing determinations, ITAR classifications, ECCN classifications, restricted party screening, country of origin declarations, export licensing when applicable.

* Regional Security Trade Control Officer reporting to Global Trade Compliance Leader responsible for quarterly reporting of OCA activities and strategy creation with global team.

* Act as OCA point of contact for US Customs and Border Patrol and OGA when addressing matters of trade compliance.

* Partner with cross-functional leaders to ensure department policies and procedures align with trade regulations and provide necessary data for trade team to facilitate global trade. Departments such as R&D, business development, Finance, Customer Service, ITS, Supply Chain, Sourcing/Procurement, etc

* Maintain responsibility for OCA?s US Customs and Border Patrol Importer Self- Assessment and CTPAT program certifications along with company import and export manuals and policies?

* Report and present to OCA and relevant Executive Committees on status of OCA Trade Compliance program, audit results, and planned improvement activities.

* Ensure a robust auditing program is in place to verify performance and accuracy of activity performed by 3rd party suppliers contracted by Olympus and internal trade program.

* Structure the proper trade compliance (import/export) organization and procedures to meet business goals and customer needs for import and export activities.

* Liaise with Global Corporate and regional trade compliance (import/export) groups to facilitate compliance with global, country specific and Olympus Corporate policies and regulations.

* Provide guidance and assistance to global regional business units to support compliant policies and activities in relation to US trade policies and regulations.

* Maintain responsibility for customs brokers performance and compliance to all applicable rules and regulations.

* Conduct periodic reviews and audits of broker activities including but not limited to import and export filings, duty drawback filings, HTS classifications, Free Trade Agreement certifications and preferential filing statuses.

* Conduct periodic assessments and monitoring of business units, customs brokers and supply chain service providers to confirm trade compliance policies are implemented appropriately.

* Outline process improvements and implement policies and procedures to meet our stated goals and to provide for quick response/higher service levels to our customers, lead the move toward the integration of new and updated technology to meet the specifications for supply chain and logistics management.

* Ensure Trade Compliance (Import/Export) staff is properly trained on Olympus policies, procedures, and is complying with all Corporate and Government requirements.

* Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


* Bachelor?s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience in business administration, trade compliance (import/export) supply chain management, logistics or other relevant field of study and experience.

*?Minimum 12 years of experience of professional experience in a supply chain, logistics, or production control in a high volume environment.

*?Minimum 10 years of experience leading a multi-entity/business unit trade compliance program.

*?Minimum 5 years of people management experience required.?

*?Ability to travel to domestic and international locations.


*?Master?s degree preferred Broker license preferred.

*?Experience developing and implementing trade programs, policies and procedures, and transforming a trade compliance organization within a multi-national organization.?

*?Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Experience implementing and maintaining global trade compliance and automation systems.
*?Comprehensive knowledge of ITAR, EAR & OFAC regulations.

*?Ability to work well under pressure.
*?Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
*?Strong analytical, multitasking, time management, and organizational skills with focused attention on detail.
*?Exceptionally good customer service skills.?
