We arecurrently seeking a Research Assistant for our Psychiatric Genetics Lab locatedat the Research Institute in Evanston, IL. This position will be reporting to aPI/Supervisor who is an Associate Professor at the University of Chicago. Thelab is using human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) as a model tounderstand the molecular and neurobiological basis of schizophrenia and otherbrain disorders (Forrest, et al. Cell Stem Cell. 2017 Sep 7;21(3):305-318 ANDZhang, et al. Stem Cell Research 2018, Mar 31;29:88-98). The laboratory workwill involve deriving iPSC lines, stem cell culture, neuron differentiation,open chromatin mapping, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, assaying functional effectof genetic perturbation on gene expression and cellular phenotypes iniPSC-derived neurons. The candidate is expected to mainly assist with theprojects led by postdoctoral researchers and scientists. This is a full-timeposition and is benefits eligible. Hours will be scheduled Monday throughFriday.

In this role,you will:

  • Perform stem cell reprograming, culture and other routine molecular biology work such as cloning and gene editing.
  • Maintain detailed records of results; perform data entry, run genetic application programs and prepare lab and meeting reports.
  • Perform general laboratory maintenance tasks, e.g., laboratory supplies inventory; preparation of stock solutions; lab cleaning, sterilization, and distribution of laboratory glassware.
  • Operate and maintain major lab instruments
  • Have knowledge of Local, State, and Federal research regulations
  • Our idealcandidates will have:

  • Bachelor s Degree required
  • Experience in a research environment preferred
  • Experience with stem cell culture is a plus.
  • Worked in a lab before performing variety of techniques, including but not limited to, PCR, DNA sequencing, DNA/RNA isolation, gene expression, and cell culture
