Description Position Purpose
The Tellers I provides accurate and efficient processing of members financial transactions to ensure high levels of member satisfaction and to maintain accurate record keeping of member accounts. This positions contribute to sales goal attainment department and organizations goals, primarily by referring products/services to members. Organization Role and Overall Contribution
The Teller I position is the entry-level position in the typical Members 1st branch office, and, in some of the larger branch offices, it is an ongoing role focusing on essential account transaction services for members. This position reports to an Assistant Branch Manager or a Head Teller in Class II and Class III branches, depending on the branch structure. It reports to a Branch Manager in a Class I office. It has no direct supervisory responsibility. Job Scope
The Teller I position has no direct revenue or cost management responsibility but does impact branch office costs through efficient processing of member transactions and also impacts revenue by efforts to cross-sell other products and services to members. Expected Contributions PROVIDES OVER THE COUNTER BANKING SERVICES Key/Representative Activities: Processes all account deposits and withdrawals Provides members with information regarding credit union products and services Accepts member loan and Visa payments Places check holds on accounts Issues money orders, bank checks, and travelers checks Responds to member account inquiries and concerns Prepares and accepts member check orders Processes Personal Service Loans (unsecured credit loans) and keys loan advances Changes payroll allocations Provides extended office hours coverage, and, in some instances, travels to other office locations to provide extended hours coverage Opens vacation, holiday, and investment supplemental accounts Level I Responsibilities: In some branches, processes shared branch transactions PERFORMS BASIC RECORDS RECONCILIATION AND PROOFING ACTIVITIES Key/Representative Activities: Performs end-of-day balancing/reconciliation of Teller drawer Assists with verification of ATM deposits and balance ATM machine Assists with vault balancing and related procedures Processes and reconciles drop box transactions Encodes and films checks PROMOTES MEMBERS 1st AND ITS SERVICES/CUSTOMER SERVICE Key/Representative Activities: Presents (cross-sells) credit union s products and services to members Handles basic member questions, inquiries, or problems regarding products, services, or an individual account Refers members to key contacts for required services outside the normal branch activity SUPPORTS GENERAL BRANCH OFFICE OPERATIONS AND PROCESSING Key/Representative Activities: Level I Responsibilities: Performs end of day procedures including separating Teller work, turning off equipment, and securing Teller stations Maintains teller station equipment and supplies Files mail, checks orders, signature cards, money order copies, and Visa advances Essential Qualifications & Competencies Minimum Education Requirements: General and business knowledge equivalent to a high school diploma Level I Requirements: 0-1 years of progressive retail financial or customer service experience Competencies: Advanced organizational skills and a strong math aptitude Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with members and other credit union personnel Thorough knowledge of credit union products, services, policies and procedures Familiarity with PCs and applicable software Sufficient manual dexterity for operation of PC keyboard and other standard office equipment. Ability to lift and carry up to 20lbs. Ability to stand or sit for extended time periods Ability to work extended evening and weekend hours and to travel to other office locations to provide extended hours coverage This job description is not intended to provide an all-inclusive listing of related job activities.
