The Vice President of Marketing for Treatment-Resistant Depression, North America is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering company at a critical time in its growth. At the heart of this new division within the company, the Vice President of Marketing must be an experienced Marketing leader with a strong track record of the development and implementation of innovative marketing strategies that create value for the company, physicians, payors and patients.
The Opportunity in Treatment-Resistant Depression
LivaNova is a worldwide leader in Neuromodulation and Cardiovascular solutions and is pioneers of VNS (Vagus Nerve Stimulation). Today as many as two-thirds of people suffering from depression are not helped by the first anti-depressant they try and go on to fail multiple subsequent treatments. This is called TRD or Treatment-Resistant Depression. These patients lives and family relationships suffer as they experience, among other symptoms, persistent sadness, worthlessness and thoughts of suicide. For these patients their treatment choices are limited. VNS therapy has been used to treat over 4000 patients since it was approved in 2005 and over 20 clinical studies have been published demonstrating clinically meaningful efficacy and safety. LivaNova is currently in the process of initiating a confirmatory study with CMS called 'Recover'. This will be the largest sham-controlled randomized study of VNS therapy to date and is designed to further understand how depression patients may benefit from using VNS Therapy.
As Vice President, Marketing for Treatment-Resistant Depression, North America you will be responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of new and innovative marketing strategies and tactics focused predominantly on Psychiatrists, the Implanter, Institutions and Patients/Caregivers. You will need to have a demonstrated successful track record in the development and implementation of building physician and consumer marketing strategies but also a deep understanding of the mechanics and economics of the hospital environment.
You will get the opportunity to develop and implement an innovative marketing plan around three different Treatment-Resistant Depression patient types; patients participating in the RECOVER clinical trial, patients already implanted whose device is at the end of Service and patients who are new to VNS therapy. Our goal at LivaNova is to ensure that physicians, patients, and payers are provided with clear, unbiased information around both disease state and VNS therapy to ensure they are equipped to make a decision on treatment that is right for them. We believe at LivaNova that many patients lives can be improved by choosing VNS therapy to help them in their daily battle against their Treatment-Resistant Depression.
From a Physician perspective achieving a strong alignment with the VP of sales will be a critical success factor and the sales team will be a significant internal customer focused on specialists for both the initial treatment decision and implantation. This person will work collaboratively with external agencies and internal teams to deliver promotional and training tools used in HCP interactions.
You will also be hyper-focused on the development and implementation of creative marketing channels, media, and content, designed to drive awareness, conversion, and retention. The role requires senior-level marketing expertise to advance key imperatives in order to maximize brand value.
Managing a marketing budget that will grow as the launch progresses, including print, social media, and digital marketing should be no stranger to you. These Marketing initiatives also require establishing appropriate metrics and tracking those metrics for ROI analysis. You will work closely with members of the leadership team to ensure the Marketing Strategy is fully integrated into the broader commercial effort. In particular, you will work closely with the VP Patient Advocacy, VP Market Access, and the VP of Sales to ensure an integrated approach to patients.
For the right person in this role you will need to have;
* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry with 15+ year of pharmaceutical marketing experience
* Bachelor's degree in a business-related and/or life sciences field required from an accredited school
* Strong track record in creatively accelerating launches and overcoming significant barriers to commercial success
* Excellent people management skills - both direct reports and with other management throughout the organization
* Significant Physician and Consumer Marketing experience required including social media/digital
* Psychiatry / Medical device experience preferred
* Proven ability to work with agencies in the development, implementation, and execution of a customer-focused marketing plan
* Ability to perform an analysis of the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and ensure optimal ROI
* Travel up to 30% (medical meetings, sales meetings, field visits, advocacy)
