PRIMARY PURPOSE: The successful candidate for this position will assist the EHS team with multi-media safety/environmental compliance programs in the KM Liquids Terminals Northeast Region. This position supports the EHS Team in the development and implementation of compliance programs, procedures, and policies associated with federal, state, and local safety/environmental regulations. Responsible for reporting on safety performance. Implements the procedures and programs across business unit and includes contractor oversight to achieve compliance and accomplish safe operations and incident free performance. Assists with the safety training provided to Terminal personnel and delivers training on Life Critical activities. Works with Operations, Engineering and Project Management to investigate incidents, learn causal factors and communicate lessons learn to mitigate the chance for additional incidents. Works with Procurement and vendors to identify and incorporate the best safety equipment and personal protective equipment. Works with industry groups and associations to learn best practices to implement across business unit to achieve continuous improvements in our safety performance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Strongly focused on a field setting ensuring compliance with OSHA regulationsAssist the EHS Manager/site personnel with development and implementation of all site, corporate, and regulatoryEHS requirements. Independently act as site safety permit issuer when necessaryPromote EHS awareness by building on existing culture and program strengths, contributing communication with all level employees, and promoting positive reinforcement of safety and health rules and regulations.Maintain up-to-date knowledge on site, corporate, and regulatory requirements.Conduct formal and informal site audits, job audits, and routine \"Management By Walking Around\" as needed or as directed.Assist EHS/Operations team in the execution of EHS procedures documenting findings, corrective actions, and tracking of closure items identified.Support Terminal SQE Committee.Provide site specific safety orientation, personnel training, and manage database to track current training within designated terminals.Complete OpsInfo tasks on time with appropriate closure status.Manage site waste program; capable of characterizing, manifesting and scheduling transportation for hazardous and non-hazardous waste to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Manage and conduct routine inspection of RCRA waste storage areasAbility to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to established work schedules.Capable of performing EHS on-call duties (call schedule).Demonstrate behavior constant with Kinder Morgan Safety, Quality, and Environmental (SQE) Program.Demonstrate ability to communicate permitting requirements to KM Personnel.Participate in on-call rotation and take after hours phone calls.MS Office Skills - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to network within the KM organization to support EHS effort.Perform other duties as required and requested
ExternalMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION: Bachelor's DegreeBA / BS degree in a technical discipline, such as environmental science or engineering, or equivalent job experience. EXPERIENCE / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE: 3 - 5 years of applicable work experience CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)Must be able to have and maintain a valid Driver's License and be insurable by the Company insurance carrier COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILTIES:Ability to deal effectively with people and resolve conflicts and problems.Ability to identify possible root causes of problems and develop and implement corrective actions for resolution of problems.Self-motivated with ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize tasks PHYSICAL DEMANDS:While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.Must meet physical requirements; including, but not limited to, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing up/down ladders and stairs, negotiating uneven and moving surfaces, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.Must be able to work at heights up to 80 feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.Must meet medical criteria for use of respiratory protective equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS:Frequent travel throughout the region is required. Region spans from Brooklyn to Baltimore.
