The Director position provides business leadership and strong technical skills for the Claims organization. This position will oversee all Bodily Injury Exposures for the organization including all Personal lines, Umbrella and Reinsurance Reporting. The Director ensures effective and efficient execution of initiatives across all business units and validates results through quality reviews and reporting. The Director should be able to work both independently and partner with all levels of the organization. The Director should possess the ability to communicate and present innovative thoughts and modifications to the current operation. This position will be located in our Parsippany, New Jersey and report directly to Vice President of Claims. Responsibilities Include: The selected candidate maintains ownership within the assigned claims operation for severity management on the Casualty lines of business. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills Enforces Company guidelines and procedures. Has a working knowledge of New Jersey regulatory claim handling guidelines and statutory regulations. Manage reserve adequacy, settlements and litigation through quality review programs, audits and conferences with claim supervisors and staff. This includes oversight on large loss reserve exposures and reinsurance cases Responsible for Business Process and metrics for the Bodily Injury Operation (budget coordination and business scorecard results) Change implementation amongst business units to improve and increase productivity levels within the organization. Possess Metrics and Reporting knowledge with the ability to implement and analyze reports on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. The ability to communicate areas of deficiencies and recommendations for improvement. The ability to provide innovative and creative ideas to improve our overall claims operation and improve our customer service initiatives with our agents and policy holders. Ability to examine complex data and reports in order to analyze severity and expense results and provide recommendations for improvement. Utilize technology and talent management to increase efficiency and to support Company growth and service initiatives. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Accountable for expense management and tracks current spend rate; implements process improvements and controls to reduce expenses. The ability to investigate, properly interpret and apply policy coverage so as to correctly assess casualty claim values. Monitors trial alert process for the claim organization. Prepare and present written and oral reports to senior and executive management setting forth all issues influencing evaluation and reserve recommendation Collaborative mind-set and willingness to work with people outside immediate reporting hierarchy to improve processes and generate optimal departmental efficiency Education and Experience: A bachelor s degree (B.A.) from an accredited four year college or university Minimum of ten to fifteen years of prior claims technical/management experience. Strong bodily injury background including: litigation, state compliance, injury evaluations and fair claims handling practices.
