Seeking candidates to fill the position of Engineering Technician in support of the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Code 516 Machinery Control Systems (DDG 1000, LSD, MCM) & Advanced Damage Control Systems Branch in Philadelphia, PA.
Provide training to ship crew on operation and maintenance of Damage Control Systems. Assist in creating training documentation and system technical manuals. Review system designs and provide expert knowledge for impact on training and damage control management practices. Provide guidance during the development and testing of Damage and Machinery Control Systems. Education
High school diploma or trade/industrial school diploma (or GED equivalent) and/or related military training.
5+ years of experience:
5+ years of directly related experience in US Navy Damage Control operations. 2+ years of professional experience as an Engineering Technician One year of professional experience tracing signals and diagnosing or isolating cause for electrical failures. One (1) year of professional experience reading, understanding, and interpreting electrical schematics
Former Damage Control Assistant or Damage Control Chief onboard US Naval ships. Experience with Advanced Damage Control System (ADCS) and/or Damage Control Action Management Software (DCAMS).
Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of shipboard damage control evolutions on US Navy ships. Experience with training crew members in damage control evolutions.
Successful applicants must be able to obtain a government secret security clearance. Desire to advance damage control automation tools and practices for the purpose of providing the US Navy with the best possible capabilities.
The work is typically performed in an office/lab environment and shipboard on US Navy vessels, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of materials, boxes or equipment.
Work may require up to 50% travel.
