As the HVAC/Refrigeration Technician, you will perform various installation, repair and preventive maintenance work on HVAC and refrigeration equipment. You will ensure all assigned duties are performed in a safe, effective, timely, and professional manner while striving to meet customer requirements. You will assist other trades as needed. MAJOR DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform preventive maintenance on various equipment in buildings to include pumps, motors, air compressors, automatic temperature controls, filters, belts, refrigeration components, piping and boilers. Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot all types of refrigeration equipment; Install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot all types of HVAC equipment. Inspect HVAC systems on a daily basis and take corrective action when a problem is present or developing. Coordinate and inspect work performed by outside contractors. Daily monitoring of operating systems using various computerized energy management systems. Maintain parts inventory. Complete work orders, purchase orders, requisition forms, and packing slips. Service centrifugal chillers, towers and pumps; perform boiler work as needed; install and remove window air conditioning units. Assist project managers in the design, installation, and troubleshooting of new or existing HVAC and refrigeration systems. Use proper equipment to handle CFC, HCFC, and HFC refrigerant and maintain accurate documentation as required by Federal Regulations. Assist the Special Work Assignment Team (SWAT) for special events set-ups/tear-downs. Plow, shovel snow, chop ice, spread anti-skid material as directed. Utilize lockout/tagout and confined space guidelines; as well as all other safety guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Occasional overtime may be required. Employees in this position are considered essential personnel and will be required to work during times designated as emergencies. Ability to work with hand and power tools used in the trade and related trades necessary. Ability to work from stepladders, extension ladders, expanding planks, scaffolding and lifts. Basic computer knowledge necessary. Because this position requires driving for College business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
