The Material Handler will support the warehouse with duties related to shipping, receiving, or warehousing and performs related work and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Follows all pertinent company Standard Operation Procedures (SOP).
  • Accurately completes any paper work such as move tickets, shipping documents, etc. and properly files paperwork.
  • Operates all material handling equipment including the stand up and sit down lift trucks in a safe manner. Complete the daily checklist for the equipment as required.
  • Communicates and interacts with other associates and departments in a professional manner.
  • Understands the business system and is able to work independently through processes.
  • Interacts with other departments as necessary.
  • Cross trains with other warehouse associates as needed for back up job responsibilities. Performs jobs occasionally to keep familiar with the job.
  • Ensures that scales being used are within calibration inspection range.
  • Performs warehouse walk through and consolidations as required.
  • Warehouse Duties

  • Locates incoming material and rotates stock.
  • Accurately picks material for shop floor orders, kanban tickets, move tickets, etc.
  • Loads material and distributes to appropriate locations; receives signatures if applicable.
  • Repackages material for safe handling (when applicable).
  • Properly labels and packages all material for shop floor orders, kanbans, etc.
  • Performs cycle counts as necessary.
  • Prints labels for shop floor orders.
  • Logs shop floor orders; writes up any back orders; fills any back order tickets with required material.
  • Initiates the change process on a shop floor order if change is necessary.
  • Performs necessary inventory transactions for the transfer, removal or addition of material.
  • Prepares material for shipment to vendors.
  • Communicates any inventory discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Files and /or delivers paper work or Kanban cards to appropriate locations or associates and receives appropriate signature (if applicable).
  • Performs stock rotation of material.
  • Enters Transfer Orders from Replenishment request Sheets.
  • Helps maintain shuttle shelf configurations. This includes proper shelf height, space allocation, etc.
  • Receiving Duties

  • Accurately signs for packages, noting any damage (if applicable).
  • Unloads trucks.
  • Sorts packages when unloading material from freight carrier, UPS, Federal Express, etc.
  • Loads and distributes material to appropriate locations.
  • Accurately counts or weigh/counts material as required.
  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of packing slip(s) from the vendor and accurately marks them with pertinent information.
  • Repackages material for safe handling (when applicable).
  • Performs Inventory Transactions such as transfers, RC transactions, etc. as required.
  • Enters receipts into computer in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicates noteworthy inventory discrepancies to the warehouse supervisor and purchasing agent in a timely manner.
  • Files and /or delivers paper work to appropriate locations or associates.
  • Accurately labels material with the correct part number, quantity, etc. as required.
  • Performs the cycle count program: accurately counting and recording the counts onto the count sheets.
  • Expedites Material as requested (HOT Sheet).
  • Reconcile the Vendor Kanban Cards to the Access Program on a regular basis.
  • File freight claims as appropriate.
  • Shipping Duties

  • Obtains items for shipment.
  • Verifies accuracy of shipping documentation.
  • Maintains, distributes and files paperwork as applicable.
  • Allocates and posts shipments.
  • Operates small package shipping system equipment.
  • Accurately ships all items from the location.
  • Repackages material for safe handling in shipping when needed.
  • Prepares Bill of Lading for shipments (when applicable).
  • Loads material onto LTL freight carrier vehicles including business truck.
  • Interacts professionally with all carriers including UPS, Federal Express, U.S. Postal Service, etc.
  • Makes sure all shipments are shipped in accordance with carrier, state, and Federal regulations.
  • Assembles papers accordingly for stat pack shipments.
  • Keeps prepared statpack boxes readily available for shipments with appropriate paperwork inside.
  • Helps to prepare the truck for deliveries.
  • Runs daily closeout reports for carriers and compiles month end shipping reports for supervisor.
  • Receives certification in shipping of hazardous material.
  • Completes hazardous shipping paperwork accurately as required.
  • Timely processing of RMAs.
  • Competencies and Key Skills and Experience

    License to operate lift truck and other warehouse equipment or ability to achieve this license.
