Alaska Overview






ConocoPhillips Alaska and its heritage companies have more than 50 years of business history in Alaska. As Alaska's largest oil and gas producer, the company produced an average 182 thousand barrels of oil and 9 million cubic feet of gas per day. ConocoPhillips, with about 1,100 Alaska employees, holds major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay Unit, the Kuparuk River Unit, and the Colville River Unit (Alpine). ConocoPhillips operates the Kuparuk and Alpine oil fields, has an ownership interest in the Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) and owns/operates the Polar Tankers fleet.











Description






ConocoPhillips Alaska is recruiting a mechanic/machinist for on-site work at our Kuparuk operation on the North Slope of Alaska. Kuparuk is the second largest production field in North America. The position will be remotely based working a minimum 14 days on and 14 days off.






Successful candidates should have five or more years of heavy industrial maintenance experience including hands on mechanical experience with large pumps, compressors and gas turbines. Specific experience with GE Frame and Siemens/Ruston turbine packages is desired. Additional preventive maintenance experience with heavy industrial equipment is desired, including but not limited to experience with, precision measurement, laser alignment and non-intrusive equipment inspections.






This position will be responsible for performing general facility maintenance including single and multi-stage pump overhauls, repair and replacement of dry gas and mechanical shaft seals, as well as repair of utility air compressors and facility air handler units. Technical school graduates or individuals who have advanced through a formal progression program along with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.






The Kuparuk team is seeking individuals that can demonstrate a track record of achievement in innovation, collaboration and technical growth. Successful candidates will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be able to work with a formal computer-based maintenance management system. The successful candidate must be able to perform strenuous physical labor for extended periods of time.











Responsibilities may include:









+ Performing maintenance duties on heavy industrial turbines, compressors, pumps and miscellaneous equipment


+ Other mechanical tasks include general facility maintenance functions and work outlined on preventative maintenance work orders


+ Support CPF3 Operations and maintenance groups on a wide variety of basic machining operations in a safe, economic and environmentally sound manner


+ Must be able to initiate work without direct supervision


+ Safely execute machinist work within the proper-engineered guidelines


+ Will be responsible for planning work activities


+ Must be able to generate written reports pertaining to mechanical inspections and overhauls



Qualifications:



Basic/Required:









+ Legally authorized to work in the United States


+ 5 years of mechanical experience


+ 5 years of experience as a millwright/process facility mechanic


+ Proficient with the operation and maintenance of a lathe and mill


+ Intermediate level of experience working to precise tolerances using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, gage blocks and standards











Preferred:









+ Technical degree or equivalent technical training in the mechanical field


+ Arctic experience


+ Ability to deliver zero incident HSE results, demonstrated by safety leadership


+ Must have a track record of achievement, collaboration, and technical growth


+ Actual millwright experience on GE frame turbine packages, Siemens/Ruston turbine packages or equivalent equipment


+ Direct process facility mechanical experience as it relates to general maintenance


+ Able to demonstrate a history of positive achievements with increasing responsibility


+ Should have experience with a maintenance management system (SAP preferred)


+ Good written and verbal skills


+ Must be in good physical condition and be able to perform strenuous physical labor for an extended period of time


+ Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what's right


+ Generates effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical


+ Actively communicates and takes time to safely perform work to protect our people and environment


+ Transmits information so it is received and understood in the way it was intended
