The Xfinity My Account Website is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our development team. Our mission is to improve the customer experience by providing a great web experiences that empower our customers to manage their relationship with Comcast.
Our team maintains a casual and professional work environment where employees can grow. As a manager, you'll both benefit from that environment and be responsible for maintaining it. We take career development very seriously and will work with you to continue to develop management skills as well as technical skills. We encourage work life balance, offering flexible office hours and work from home options when needed.
As for the day to day, you'll be right at home if you have previously worked in an agile environment. You'll work directly with developers, QA, UX, scrum masters, and product owners, all of whom work on the same floor. Features are presented, discussed, prioritized and then built by the team. Most of our engineering work is in front-end technologies, but there is a middleware component to our stack which you'll own as well.
Development and QA directly report to the Engineering Manager. The engineering manager is also responsible for co-leading the cross functional team with product, UX, delivery, and other stakeholders. We view this partnership as vital to our ability to execute and improve in an agile and iterative fashion.
While our values and processes evolve carefully, our technology and products change rapidly. We're an agile shop that gets things done. If you are someone who likes to constantly learn, be challenged, and are a team player, please apply. We look forward to working with you!
* Guide career, behavioral, and technical growth of developer direct reports. * Maintain and improve the team culture. * Refine expectations between your team, yourself, and your manager. * Oversee execution and deadlines of projects with the scrum master and QA lead. * Own operational improvements. * Lead architectural discussions and decisions in conjunction with the tech lead.
Desired, but not required
* Build processes and tools (gulp, Jenkins, webpack, etc). * AWS. * Middleware languages and technologies such as Ruby on Rails, Python or Java. * Frameworks: React, Redux, Angular 1. * Accessibility standards. * Experience with PCI or other compliance schemes.
* Location: Comcast Technology Center (the new building) * Hours: 9-5, but this can be flexible for legitimate needs. Some people pick up their kids from and work early and/or late to make up for the missed time. Some trains schedules mean that showing up at 9:10 gives you an extra 45 minutes of sleep. As long as you work a 40 hour week, are available for important meetings, and the team knows where you are and can reach you, we can make it work. Strong communication is required to take advantage of this policy. * Work From Home: We are not a remote team, but work from home is available as needed (Family emergency, having your water heater fixed, school closed for a day, etc). Make sure you're not remote on the rare days where you really need to be in person, communicate to the team when you're remote. Don't abuse it, don't lose it.
