Responsible for building, operating, and continuously improving Systems, Storage, Database, and/or Tools Infrastructure that support Comcast's customer facing applications, back office, and provisioning infrastructure in a 24/7 environment. Focuses on architecting, building, deploying, and stabilizing code, services, systems, and tools. Drives standardization and service focused instrumentation. Provides subject matter expertise. Resolves and tests break/fix scenarios, engaging broader teams as necessary; and partners/leads vendors and regions to achieve continuous improvement. Contributes to command and control related activities focused on complexoutages, communication across Comcast, and rapid restoration. Works and directly leads external vendors, third parties, and associated agencies when necessary to address issues across the infrastructure. Participate on 24/7 on-call rotation as scheduled. Acts as a technical expert in own area within the organization. May work independently or as part of a team on more complex projects. Maintain and update the application source code as needed.
-Experience working with Unix/Linux systems from kernel to shell and beyond, with experience working with system libraries, file systems, and client-server protocols
-Expertise in configuring/managing Linux Systems, such as CentOS
-Networking: experience with network theory e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, etc., MAC addresses, IP packets, DNS, OSI layers, and load balancing
-Experience with application monitoring and operation support
-Experience with real time application support and understanding of consumer service
-Experience with CI/CD
-Strong sense of ownership and drive coupled with systematic problem-solving approach
-Advanced experience in one or more of: Perl, Python, Ruby and shell scripting experience
- Troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems and applications.
-Experience with design, develop and deliver software for support tools, migration tools, availability, scalability, and efficiency
-Hands on experience with SDLC cycle and deployment tools.
-Experience with voice including SIP protocol a major plus, but not required
-Familiarity with devOps
- High proficiency in Linux is a must
-High proficiency in a language sys-admin oriented (Perl/Python/Go)
-Experience with configuring, tuning and troubleshooting Java preferred.
-Experience with FreeSWITCH and/or related VoIP open source like Asterisk, OpenSIPs/Kamilio. Preferred but not required
- Cloud experience preferred: Openstack, AWS-
-Working knowledge of container methodologies & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
-Deployment experience with: Ansible, SaltStack
-CI/CD tool: Jenkins
-Monitoring: Nagios, Op5, checkmk
-Metrics/Logging: Prometheus, ELK, Splunk
-Development experience a major plus
-Familiarity with FreeSwitch a major plus
