BCNY develops programs to cultivate positive qualities in members and strives to continually deepen and broaden our impact.Job SummaryHomework Assistants provide academic support to members, ensuring they complete their homework using good study skills. Homework Assistants oversee a consistent group of kids on a day-to-day basis and will build relationships with all members, families and staff.Responsibilities* Manage group of approximately 10 boys at a time during Homework Help sessions* Provide academic support in English Language Arts, Math, and other subjects* Observe and track member's progress and attendance* Reinforce positive student behavior and clubhouse rules; maintain a positive relationship with all members, families and staff* Report any problems, member incidents and concerns to Education Program Coordinator or Director* Attend required department meetings and professional development training* Other duties as assignedQualifications* Currently enrolled in college or has Associate's or Bachelor's Degree, preferably with relevant coursework* At least 2 years of experience supervising young people at a school, agency, camp, etc.* Comfort with students and all content areas at the elementary and/or middle school level* Experience managing medium to large groups of children strongly preferred, ability to do so required* Ability to adapt to a changing environment and to address the varying needs of the boys in our programResume and Cover letter requiredThe Boys' Club of New York is an equal opportunity employer.
