Job Description Responsibilities/Qualification Position Summary Acts as an Aviation Subject Matter Expert (SME) on a project or program that is complex and/or novel in concept and development related to aviation cargo/PAX lift, MEDEVAC/CASEVAC, ISR operations, policies, regulations, and procedures. Develops problem resolution options based on thorough knowledge of the aircraft, aircraft sub-systems, and the operational integration of multiple mission systems. Under the general guidance of a project, program, and/or division manager, and within the scope of work derived from a contract with a government customer, performs multi-faceted assignments requiring the coordination and synchronization of Customer fixed and rotatory wing aviation requirements. Utilizes effective theory, concepts and principles in the design, development and implementation of analytic models and systems. Is an expert in the field and in certain client communities. Anticipates future requirements. Develops and evaluates plans for future upgrades, modification, and integration activities to meet customer requirements. Assesses and recommends the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve problems. Responsibilities * The Aviation SME will be responsible for flight scheduling of aviation assets including crew schedules and in coordination with scheduled/unscheduled aircraft maintenance flows. Able to read and understand minimum flight operations weather requirements, ATO, SPINS, 1801 flight planning, and DOD forms 2627/1821, AR 95-20. Engages directly with US and PNF (Partner Nation Force) counterparts to provide Gap Analysis and capability assessments. Trains key stakeholders as required. This position works directly with and in close coordination with the customer and local GFR (Government Flight Representative). The aviation SME provides accurate, professional, and timely communications to US Government and Alion key stakeholders as required. Must be knowledgeable in formulating policies, managing daily operations, and planning the use of materials, assets, and human resources. Develops effective aviation tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) required to manage airworthiness, flight clearance, flight safety and aircraft maintenance activities. Coordinates with the In-Country Logistics Lead to ensure 100% accountability of Alion and GFE (Government Furnished Equipment). Advises the Deputy Program Manager (DPM), Mission Manager, and reports directly to the Alion In-Country Lead. * Applies specialized knowledge and skills pertinent to the organization, project, or program assigned. * Closely monitors the aircraft Time Life Report (TLR) to forecast specific routine daily/monthly maintenance items in accordance with manufacturers recommended service intervals. * Creates, produces, and submits mission equipment maintenance QA/QC reports to the PM periodically, on the spot, ad hoc, or as required. * Maintains and complies with security procedures in the performance of duties. * May provide direction, training, and assistance to other project staff, as a senior expert in a particular field of endeavor. Education and Experience * Bachelor's degree in management or a related military discipline plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 12 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving complex operations. * Will have Airframe and Powerplant Certificate/GRF Certification/Commercial, Military Flight Certification. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: * Willingness to deploy to and work in austere conditions, proven independent decision-making skills, and experience. * Experience working in the AFRICOM AOR highly desirable. * Experienced in working overseas with US and PNF military commands, staff sections, and foreign nationals and operating independently or as a small team. * Experience in operating a latitude of Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL), rotary, and ISR mission systems and equipment. * Possesses a thorough knowledge of applicable Airborne Mission Systems and their equipment. * Knowledge of and ability to apply technical principles, theories, and concepts to network and avionics mission systems. * Candidates are required to be a US Citizen and hold a TS clearance with SCI eligibility. * Applicants must be fully deployable according to AFRICOM, EUCOM, SOUTHCOM, and CENTCOM's Theater Entry Requirements. * Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. * 50%travel to OCUNUS locations expected. #CB *MSJA #Africa Diversity Statement Women, minorities, individuals with disabilities and veterans are encouraged to apply.
